CR Sibu Kelong - 24/4 to 27/4

Went up to Hotboy's Kelong from 24th to 27th April. Noteworthy catch included 2 Emperor snappers at 1.1 kg and 700g respectively, and also a total of about 28 sotongs.

Managed to scoop up a sizable crab for supper using our iso net which the kelong people kindly steamed for us!

This greedy hermit crab was caught as it tried to take the fresh sotong bait, but it was released and did not become supper. ;)

Another group caught a porcupine fish and actually decided to keep and cook it, amazing! It really looks like some kind of alien but apparently they said that it tastes good. Who dares to try??

Anyway here's a short clip of a fighting scene. Suspect that it was a stingray that's too strong for my setup with double paternostal rigs which was meant to catch emperor snappers, but the ray decided to take a light snack.

The interesting thing was that it was a double hookup - the remora that was probably sticking to the ray took the top bait. Anyway, in the end the bottom rig was cut off eventually after about 30 mins of fight and only the top hook with the remora remained. Sianz...
